Thursday: Day of Books and Roses
The Day of Books and Roses is an annual tradition in Catalonia, and is honored through the exchange of books and roses between loved ones. The holiday itself has a strong antifascist undercurrent following State propaganda through the adoption of Sant Jordi, and a campaign to promote fascistic literature under Francisco Franco’s fascist rule of Spain.
The subsequent reclamation of the holiday by the free people of Catalan after the Franco dictatorship was toppled has cemented it as an important piece of Catalonian heritage, as well as an international symbol of antifascist action against State control of literature.
We’re celebrating the Day of Books and Roses by offering a bonus 15% trade-in credit + an origami rose with every trade-in!

Find the Golden Ticket!
For Indie Bookstore Day 2026, we’ve received a top secret package from our faves at Libro FM (@librofm) that contained a golden ticket. Apparently the finder of that golden ticket, somehow – likely through some arcane process not fully understood by modern science – will receive a ONE YEAR SUPPLY of audiobook credits. Don’t worry, we’ve got some top minds involved to figure out how and why (and most importantly, when) this is possible.
Until then, we’ve opted to do the responsible thing: Hide the golden ticket somewhere in the shop.
𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗼 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 should you visit us on Saturday April 25th to search the shop for the Libro FM golden ticket! We cannot be held responsible for the power bestowed upon the person curious enough to locate it.

Pick up your punch card at any participating shop!
Get your card punched at each shop on Saturday 4/25 or Sunday 4/26. You just need to visit, no purchase required.
Drop off your card at Second Shapes Bookstore (8124 N. Denver Ave) or send a picture to @secondshapesbookstore on IG or hello@secondshapesbookstore.com
